Today, I realized that my passion for knowledge with respect to the sleep apnea needs to be more in depth.
My mother mentioned about my 13 year old son's night awakenings with occasional breath grasping. This is alarming considering that he is not at all fat. He has never tasted liquor and he is such an active young man. However, upon close probing, it was mentioned that he eat well, too well that he cannot move fast after his dinner.
Now, this could be it. He is having problems with sleeping because his digestive system has not finished its job before he went to bed. This is one thing that can cause problem in sleeping.
It is therefore important that you eat a couple of hours before going to bed. This is so you will avoid trouble sleeping. You may also need to avoid drinking alcohol immediately before bedtime.
Sleep apnea is like a thief in the night, it can be fatal. Avoid this and you will not be one of the 40% of men over forty who is at risk of sleep apnea.
On another note, sleep apnea is also rampant in young children, proper care and ensuring that they will not experience blockage of the airway is an important thing to know for parents.
Let us not succumb to sleep apnea and other sleep disorder, learn as much especially for those with relatives who are at risk. Snoring, obesity, sleepiness and fatigue are some signs you should look for.
